Derek Jeter won five World Series out of seven appearances. Very few people get to play in one World Series. His 20 year career with the New York Yankees was one of the greatest performances by a position player at the hardest position in terms of overall stats, consistency, longevity and leadership. His nickname was The Captain, which he earned by becoming one of the few named Captains of the New York Yankees in the history of the franchise.

What is always amazing when people talk about Derek Jeter’s career, his stats, his performance, all the things he did or did not do, very few people talk about one very specific thing that he did whenever the Yankees won a World Championship. This first thing Derek Jeter would say when the media spotlight was on him was on him, “I’d like to thank Mr. Steinbrenner and the Yankees Organization.” That was the class act that made Derek Jeter exceptional.

One of the biggest things to think about in sharing your story, your wins, your success and anything positive you can do on a constant basis is to acknowledge the people and opportunities that helped you get to the position you are in.

The other important part of acknowledgement and making other people a part of your success is that it makes you look even bigger.

Humility is sexy. When you let someone know you could not have achieved your win without their help, you just let them be a winner with you!

If you want to be exceptional, make your vision, your dreams and your wins larger than you! Let other people share in your success and help you grow exponentially!
